There are many definitions one could provide of dyslexia.
One can look upon dyslexia as a condition in which a child has more than the usual difficulty with the written language. As such, a child with dyslexia may have reading, writing and spelling scores below the level one would expect for someone of that age and intelligence level.
Without early detection and remediation, the child may be labeled as "stupid" or "unwilling to co-operate" with the teacher. As a result, anxiety, fear, anger, and a dislike for school may become prevalent in the child. Usually parents and/or a very observant teacher may notice something is wrong, although this may not always be the case. Some parents may just assume their child just cannot grasp the concepts, or cannot take the "pressure".
